THE EAST KENTUCKY DREAMCENTER EXIST

"TO FIND A NEED AND FILL IT, TO FIND A HURT AND HEAL IT."

aboutus

The Vision of the East Kentucky Dream Center.
All children and adults in Eastern Kentucky should have equal access to food, clothing, and basic life skills. We believe that love, proper education, and networking can change lives and combat the effects of poverty.
We operate with a commitment to treating each individual with positive, courteous respect. We want to build and improve not only our clients’ individual strengths, but also that of our volunteers.
We will continue to operate with Four Core Values: Quality, Opportunity, Inclusion, and Integrity.

Objectives of Volunteering at the East Kentucky Dream Center
• To create a positive and spiritual environment where individuals feel safe, secure, and can have their basic clothing, food, and hygiene needs met.
• To have a staff that is 100% committed to helping individuals gain knowledge of daily life skills, to connect clients with programs available for help with pregnancy, addiction, adoption and fostering, transitional housing, etc., and to acquire help from local, state, or governmental agencies.
• To enable individuals to become spiritually alive, emotionally stable, physically healthy, and socially active in all aspects of society.

ONE BIG

FAMILY

The East Kentucky Dream Center is a faith-based charitable organization that finds and fills the needs of struggling people across Eastern Kentucky. The Dream Center aims to not only meet the immediate needs of individuals and families by providing food and clothing, but also focuses on the full successful transformation of people's lives, all free of charge.

HOW WE DO IT

More than 26,000 people in Johnson, Martin, Floyd, Pike, and Letcher counties are considered food-insecure (including 25% of the child population). These individuals don’t know when they’ll get their next meal. The East Kentucky Dream Center helps meet this need by providing hot meals. The Dream Center also donates food boxes to needy individuals.

Our clothing and hygiene outreach offers free clothes, shoes, and hygiene items to the roughly 2,000 homeless persons and others in need in eastern Kentucky—including our population of homeless veterans. We accept donation drop-offs at our facility Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
